History: | Named in honor of John Kerr of the U S Forest Service, born in 1869 in Ireland. Began working for the Bureau of Forestry (Department of Interior) in 1901, was promoted to Assistant District Forester in 1910 and served as Chief of the Branch of Grazing in Forest Region 3 until his retirement in July 1934. John Kerr died in October, 1934. |
