History: | "Cañada de Don Luis (Spanish: 'gulch of Mr. Louis') The name is said to to be attributed to Luis Valdez, a descendant of Juan Bautista Valdez, founder of Los Cañones. Luis was born in 1830, married to Dolores Gonzales, and claimed to have lived in the village of El Rito de los Encinos (BGN #900007) since the early 1870s. A USGS field crew collected “Temolime Canyon"" as a valley feature in the area." |
